3.2 Poland gains its independence

Before the city of the Insubrian lands,
for seven years the siege will be laid;
a very great king enters it,
the city is then free, away from its enemies. (VII–15)

The polish people gain independence and become democratic after «seven years» they had been actually working on that. The «great king» is the leader of the trade union called Solidarity in Poland. Its leader, Lech Walesa, later elected as first president, was awarded the 1983 Nobel Peace Prize.
